I have been intending to email to thank you for the payroll
module - people management.
With regard to the assignment on goal setting, this helped an enormous
amount to bringing the goal to fruition.
The Oxfam 100km walk that I did my assignment on, was a fantastic
success!! I co-ordinated the support crew and with all the preparation,
analysis and planning clarified by the assignment, the support crew
worked wonders. The running team were then able to achieve their
goal of 100km in 24hours. The turn around time at the check points
was perfect. The setup, pack down and transport logistics of each
checkpoint ran without a hitch. And ultimately a very tiring 24hours
of no sleep and hard yakka hiking the team made it and the support
crew was still in one piece. It was a brilliant feeling to be a
part of the team that made it happen. Oh and it looks like I'll
be reappointed next year, as at least one running crew member wants
to challenge the clock again and complete next years 100km in under
24hours!!
So thankyou, without the assignment and the people skills we learnt
in class. I certainly would not have had the patience and understanding
to best manage the various personalities under pressure, and would
not have prepared quite as well in general. I would have missed
out on such a satisfying success; that I will treasure always.
